How Do Therapy Sessions Work?

Therapy consists of us talking, you describing what you're feeling and me interpreting what you say, as well as the dynamics behind your words, and together resolving the issues that have been nagging at you.

 

I tailor my approach to your individual needs and goals. Sessions are based on a continual process of assessment, goal setting, action steps and back to assessment.

 

Individual therapy takes place via telehealth, in the comfort of your home or office, or at my office at Blair Counseling at 12555 Farm Hill Drive, Huntley, IL 60142.

 

Individual sessions are optimal when they are held weekly. I’ve found that this frequency allows us to track properly and support the realization of your plans.

 

You may have assignments between sessions. These involve getting to the roots of your emotions and growing the life you want.

How Long Is the Process?

Therapy involves getting to know each other, then gradually making changes to grow the life you want. This happen over a period of weeks. Some clients make therapy an integral part of their life. But perhaps right now you are only seeking help for a specific situation. That’s fine. I recommend three to six months to see lasting change.
